Karnataka Coop Societies Bill passed in assembly

The Karnataka Cooperative Societies (second Amendment) Bill was passed in the Legislative Assembly.

Tabling the Bill in the House, Cooperative Minister Laxman Savadi said it was necessary to introduce the Bill following the recommendations of the Vaidyanathan committee for revival of cooperatives in the state.

The implementation of the Bill would help the state to get a financial package from the Centre for the revival of the societies, he said, adding the Bill was also necessary in view of the reorganisation of the districts and for short-term cooperative credit structure.
