Goa to survey places of worship on roadsides on SC directives
Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat directed the district collectors to undertake a survey of places of worship, built on roadsides, public and open spaces, following a recent directive from the Supreme Court.
A decision to this effect was approved at an all-party meeting held here. The district magistrates have been asked to complete the task in 20 days so that the report would be submitted to the apex court, Mr Kamat told newspersons here after the meeting.
The apex court, had in a recent verdict, said no new structure be allowed to be built on the open and public places. As the issue is highly sensitive, the survey would help identify the bona fides of the owners and the time they were built, Mr Kamat added.
