SC fixes Jan 11 for hearing of appeals in Mumbai blasts case
The Supreme Court fixed January 11, 2011 for hearing of the appeals of those convicted and sentenced in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case.
The appellants include Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt.
There are over 100 accused in the case.
Some of them namely underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Saudi Arabia-based Memon brothers have been declared proclaimed absconders.
A bench headed by Justice P Sathasivam fixed the date of hearing of the appeals filed by those held guilty by TADA Court Mumbai and directed that the appeals should be heard on day-to-day basis.
The commercial capital of India was rocked by a series of bomb blasts on March 12, 1993, leaving more than 200 people dead and 700 others injured.
