SC issues notice to Bangalore police chief for banning hotels

The Supreme Court issued notice to the Bangalore Police Chief on the petition filed by Bangalore Hoteliers Association, challenging the ban on the hotels on the ground that they were organising shows by bar dancers.

Altogether 590 hoteliers in their petition through their association have contended that they were not organising dance shows and were only serving foods.

The police had also ordered the closure of hotels between midnight to 6’o clock in the morning.

Earlier, Bangalore police had banned shows by bar dancers in the hotels in the city on the grounds that in the name entertainment, hotels were indulging in promoting prostitution.

The apex court issued notice after hearing the counsel for the association who contended that the hotels were serving only food and not organising entertainment shows.
